Good food should be easy to reach—for every home cook, grower, vegetable lover, or curious visitor trying a first recipe. Whether someone’s reading on a small screen, using screen readers, or navigating with assistive tools, access shouldn’t get in the way of a great farm-to-table experience.
CitizenFarm.com.sg was built by people who believe in growing mindfully and cooking simply. That means thinking beyond vegetables and recipes. It means making each page work for every guest who lands here, regardless of how they browse or move through the site.
What We’re Working Toward
We’ve been growing things by hand, and we approach web work the same way. Text is written clearly. Headings follow a clean order. Recipes load without confusion. Buttons respond well to keyboards. Photos of farm produce come with readable descriptions.
There’s still work to do. Screen readers and device combinations don’t always play nicely. Font sizes need attention. Alt text gets rechecked every time a recipe goes live. We try to catch every hiccup but welcome a nudge if something’s off.
Organic Content, Cleaner Code
We treat our site like our soil—kept clean, well-tended, and ready to support growth. Code stays lean so pages load fast, whether you're checking vegetable tips, reading a farm update, or browsing recipes on slower connections.
We follow WCAG 2.1 (AA) to guide how content looks and behaves. That means strong contrast, clear labels, flexible spacing, and easy navigation—whether using a screen reader or keyboard-only setup.
Every step, from planting to plating, should be easy to follow. So should our site.
Sharing the Table
Mei, Clara, Jin, and Lucas all cook, grow, and write differently. That mix shapes how we think about food access and online inclusion. We've asked others to review our pages—especially those who rely on assistive tech or who have different sensory needs. Their feedback feeds into our work, same as compost feeds the farm beds.
No one should miss out on a recipe just because a label is missing or a button won’t click. That’s the baseline we grow from.
Better Tools, Smoother Visits
Outdated browsers or older devices can cause issues with how recipes display—like misaligned ingredients, missing steps, or broken buttons. Some tools may not load images of our farm produce clearly or may struggle with interactive features like timers or video instructions.
We recommend using an updated browser (such as the latest version of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge) for the best experience. A newer device helps pages load faster, text appear cleaner, and recipe functions work as intended—whether you're exploring a salad idea or reviewing how to sauté seasonal vegetables.
Staying current reduces frustration and makes browsing feel more like cooking should: intuitive, enjoyable, and smooth from start to finish.
Feedback Grows the Site
Spotted a broken step in a recipe? Using a screen reader that skips ingredients? Trouble pressing buttons with keyboard tabs?
Send us a message: contact@citizenfarm.com.sg. Include the page that isn’t working or a quick note on what went wrong. We'll review it and fix what we can.
Growing food teaches patience, care, and listening. So does building better access.
