Ingredients 

Kolache Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk warmed
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • 1 egg beaten

Filling

  • ½ pound sausage crumbled
  • 1 cup mushrooms chopped
  • 2 Hatch chiles roasted and chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and sugar.
  2. Add warmed milk, melted butter, and beaten egg. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth. Let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. In a skillet, cook sausage until browned. Add mushrooms and Hatch chiles, cook until tender.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Divide dough into 8 pieces. Flatten each piece and fill with sausage mixture and cheese. Seal edges.
  7. Place kolaches on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
